Data Deletion Policy

Deleting your Cookie account may not cancel a subscription managed by an app store or payment processor.

Overview

You can request deletion of your Cookie account and associated personal information through in-app controls where available or by contacting Cookie.

This policy is designed to support app-store account deletion requirements and user rights under privacy laws. It covers account deletion, profile deletion, pantry deletion, AI conversation deletion, preference deletion, backups, verification, processing timelines, and retention exceptions.

How to Request Deletion

  1. Use in-app controls.

    Where available, open Cookie settings and choose the account deletion or privacy request option.

  2. Email Cookie.

    If in-app deletion is unavailable, email support@cookie.kitchen from the email associated with your account.

  3. Verify control.

    We may ask you to verify identity or account control before deleting data to prevent unauthorized deletion.

  4. Receive confirmation.

    We will confirm receipt and tell you if additional information is needed.

What We Delete

Data typeDeletion handling
AccountEmail, display name, authentication records, profile image, and account status are deleted or de-identified unless an exception applies.
ProfileName, age, height, weight, dietary preferences, allergies, cuisine preferences, cooking goals, and household preferences are deleted or de-identified.
PantryIngredient inventory, quantities, expiry dates, low inventory settings, and pantry history tied to your account are deleted or de-identified.
Recipes and cookingSaved recipes, favorites, recipe history, cooking sessions, and cooking progress tied to your account are deleted or de-identified.
AI conversationsAsk Cookie conversations, prompts, generated responses, and feedback tied to your account are deleted or de-identified, subject to safety and legal exceptions.
PreferencesNotification preferences, theme choices, language settings, personalization preferences, and app settings tied to your account are deleted or de-identified.

Processing Timelines

We aim to process verified deletion requests within 30 days unless a shorter or longer period is required or permitted by applicable law, the request is complex, identity verification is incomplete, or a retention exception applies.

When deletion is complete, active systems will no longer use deleted account data to provide Cookie. Backup copies may remain in restricted backup systems until they expire through ordinary backup rotation. We do not use deleted backup data for active personalization.

Retention Exceptions

We may retain limited information where necessary or permitted for legal obligations, tax and accounting records, app-store records, subscription disputes, refunds, chargebacks, fraud prevention, security investigations, abuse prevention, unresolved support matters, enforcement of terms, legal claims, regulatory requests, safety, backup integrity, or compliance with law.

We may also retain aggregated or de-identified information that no longer reasonably identifies you.

Subscriptions

Deleting your Cookie account may not cancel a subscription managed by Apple, Google, or another payment processor. You may need to cancel through the platform where you purchased the subscription. Cookie can provide guidance, but the platform controls its cancellation, refund, and billing processes.

Partial Deletion and Controls

You may be able to delete or edit specific profile fields, pantry items, preferences, saved recipes, AI conversations, or notification settings without deleting your entire account. Feature availability may vary by app version and region.
